Where are You From? Launch and Exhibition

Where Are You From? is an online journal and photographic storyboard about Australian cultural identities. It is launching alongside an exhibition at Blak Dot Gallery.

The ongoing online project focuses on the experience of Australians of colour being asked, "Where are you from?" It aims to challenge the assumption that to be Australian is to appear Caucasian. The project gives examples of how this assumption is perpetuated, and how Australians of colour affirm their sense of identity.

Curated by Sabina McKenna, the exhibition will feature photography by Jess Brohier and video work by Amy Dellar. Readings, music and drinks will accompany the exhibition and launch.
