Where Are You From? is an online journal and photographic storyboard about the experience of being asked: ‘Where are you from?’
Perspective is powerful, and sharing that is crucial to changing attitudes and understanding where each of our experiences differ (or how they relate).
Launching 1 March 2018 at Blak Dot Gallery in Brunswick, the ongoing project hopes to challenge the widespread assumption that to be ‘Australian’ is to appear Caucasian, and will give examples of how and by whom that attitude is perpetuated, therein exploring the ways in which Australians of colour endeavour to affirm their sense of identity.
